Last month, online sports wagering with no deposit bonus codes took the lion’s share of Pennsylvania‘s bets, overcoming land-based casino gaming, brick-and-mortar sports betting and state racetrack revenue.
The state’s Gaming Control Board released their latest statistics which showed a record handle for the state’s online sports betting. That record is likely to fall when the NFL season begins and more operators open online sportsbooks.
Pennsylvania Sports Betting Revenues
A breakdown of Pennsylvania’s sports betting shows that retail and online sportsbooks generated $59.3 million combined in July.
Jessica Welman, sports betting analyst for PlayPennsylvania.com, the official online Pennsylvania betting site, explained, “Simply put, increased online accessibility drives traffic. Pennsylvania could have as many as six online sportsbooks operating by the beginning of the football season, and some apps have worked out their Apple issues and are now in the App Store. Add in the natural boost that comes from football season, and Pennsylvania’s sportsbooks are about to take a giant leap forward.”
Currently, three online sportsbooks operate in Pennsylvania. Online sports betting generated $39m in bets in July which is up from $19.3m in June. More than sixty five percent of all bets were made online which is the first time that digital betting outpaced in-person betting in Pennsylvania.
Welman said, “We can see the beginnings of a boom that has been held back by a market that has been slow to mature. The fact that the market is working itself out ahead of the football season is a relief to those vested in the success of Pennsylvania’s sportsbooks.”
Pennsylvania Sportsbooks
Industry powerhouse FanDuel Sportsbook launched only a few weeks ago, in late July. Observers are expecting that the entry of FanDuel Sportsbook to the Pennsylvania online betting scene will change the dynamic of sports betting in the state. In its first 10 days of operation, FanDuel took in $3.3m in online bets.
PlayPennsylvania.com lead analyst Dustin Gouker said, “In all likelihood, FanDuel will become the market leader in relative short order as it has become in New Jersey, where it leads both the online and retail markets. FanDuel’s name recognition is important. But FanDuel’s functionality is appealing, and it was the first in Pennsylvania to launch a sports betting app for iPhone.”
Prior to the FanDuel launch, sportsbooks for SugarHouse, Parx and Penn National casinos offered Pennsylvania gamblers access to online casino games, with the sportsbooks operated via their casino properties. Combined, Pennsylvania’s online casinos generated $812,306 in revenue in July on $49.2 million wagered. The state collected $51,597 in tax revenue.
According to Welman, “Once mature, online casinos will likely generate more revenue than online sportsbooks. In New Jersey, online casinos generate close to $40 million each month in revenue. If Pennsylvania’s market grows in a similar way, it will be enormous for the state.”
Pennsylvania Apps
Presently, Pennsylvania has a range of online sportsbooks. They include:
Sugarhouse Sportsbook
Sugarhouse sportsbook is partnered with SugarHouse Casino. Sugarhouse sportsbook was Pennsylvania’s first online sportsbook app which interfaces with Android. iOS users can access the sportsbook on their browser via the GeoGuard Location Validator. New users receive a 100% match up to $250 on their first deposit.
The SugarHouse sportsbook is fully integrated with the SugarHouse online casino so site visitors can navigate back and forth from the sportsbook to the SugarHouse online casino at their leisure. Both the online casino and the sportsbook share wallets which makes it easy for users to make deposits and withdraw winnings.
There’s an excellent selection of betting lines in the sportsbook with dozens of varying opportunities for wagering on every match or contest. The variety is due to an extensive in-game betting system which enables bettors to be able to find new betting opportunities at any time, regardless of how they have done on previous wagers.
PlaySugarHouse is one of the only sportsbooks in which the casino’s loyalty system is accessible to its sportsbook clients. The same prizes and benefits that are available at the online casino are also available to sportsbook users.
DraftKings Sportsbook
DraftKings Sportsbook is partnered with Meadows Casino in New Jersey and is available on the Android browser and through Android app download. The iOS availability is not clear. The app should launch in Pennsylvania in the coming weeks. DraftKings sportsbook app brings with it a betting carousel which is a rotating display that offers suggested wagers based on the player’s wagering history and other identified preferences.
There’s also a live ticket system for New Jersey players which will soon be available to Pennsylvania players. This function allows players to guard against late collapses if the bet is winning at any point throughout the game. A bettor can cash out their tickets on which he wagered upon before the end of the contest.—it’s a lower payout but guards against losing the entire bet. This option is also available to parlay bettors.
DraftKings sportsbook bettors receive a $25 no deposit bonus plus a 50% deposit match up to $500 as a Welcome Bonus. There’s also a $200 risk-free bet bonus.
Parx Sportsbook
The Parx Sportsbook is part of Parx Racing and Casino and is accessible through Android, iOS and on browser. There’s a welcome bonus of 100% match up to $500 on the first deposit.
The Parx sportsbook site offers easy navigation including quick links to the sports that are in season. There’s also a search function if the desired sport isn’t readily viewable.
Currently, Parx is one of Pennsylvania’s only sportsbooks to offer its app through the Apple Store. Other sites require geolocation intervention.
The biggest advantage of the Parx sportsbook is the wide scope of betting options presented. They include prop bets and sports bets for non-conventional sports.
FanDuel Sportsbook
FanDuel has partnered with the Valley Forge Casino to create a sportsbook that is faster than almost any other sports betting app. The site uses a tab system as its underlying interface so everything isn’t crowded onto a single screen. This design gives FanDuel users the ability to access more information at a faster pace. In-game systems have the ability to offer hundreds of options for betting on any single game.
There’s at least one odds boost on a sporting event every day, promotional deals delivered every week and a Welcome Bonus that gifts new users with a risk-free bet that’s valued at up to $500.
Betrivers Sportsbook
Rivers Casino’s Betrivers sportsbook is similar to the PlaySugarHouse sportsbook, thanks to the fact that both sportsbooks were designed by Rush Street Interactive. Both sportsbooks offer similar functionalities and features including a wide range of lines from which to choose and different options for wagering on every game, including plenty of in-game wagering options. The Betrivers sportsbook also produces in-game spur-of-the-moment wagering possibilities.
The app is accessible via Android download and also on the browser while iOS users can use GeoGuard Location Validator) to open the browser version. New bettors receive a 100% match up to $250 on their first deposit.
