AGA and its Code of Conduct

AGA maintains a Code of Conduct which it updates as needed. The Code of Conduct involves a set of guidelines by which all AGA members are expected to act. The Code is updated  regularly to account for changes and to ensure that gaming standards remain at a high level. 

The Code aims to protect industry patrons and employees and enforce responsible gaming among operators. The Code also keeps the general public safe by ensuring that the industry operates according to the law.

Sports odds involve giving gamblers the chance to achieve a profit if they can predict something that will happen during a sporting event (or something that involves sports) or guess the outcome of a sporting event. Gambling on odds can take place at an online casino or at a racetrack, through a land-based sportsbook or at a brick-and-mortar casino betting venue.

The Massachusetts Gaming Commission has been involved in an investigation of former online casino and casino resort magnate Steve Wynn for most of 2018. The Commission, which must decide whether Wynn Resorts will be allowed to continue with their plans to build and operate a casino in Massachusetts, wants to determine what Wynn Resorts executives knew of sexual misconduct allegations against former CEO Steve Wynn when the company obtained a Massachusetts casino license.

Great Britain, which hosts some of the world’s oldest and most established venues, continues to be regarded as a world leader in gaming entertainment. The government encourages the online casino and brick-and-mortar casino industry in the country and ensures that revenues from gambling are put to good use.

Betting options for gamers at land-based casinos, sports venues, online casino sites and other gambling locales are expanding throughout the United States. Many gaming proponents are turning to the voters for decisions on where and how to facilitate more betting opportunities in the various states.

Florida and Arkansas voters made definitive decisions in their states while Chicago voters have a few more months to consider the issue.

Less than six months after the United States Supreme Court ruled that states could legislate sports betting for their residents and visitors, multiple states have introduced sports gambling options and additional states are expected to do so this year. The speed at which states are adopting sports betting means that there are significant implications for different facets of the industry. They include more options for online casino betting, development of new tech companies and resources, introduction of more interactive platforms and new Congressional legislation that will attempt to bring sports betting and online gambling under federal control.

In 1987 the Cabazon and Morongo Bands of Mission Indians won a Federal Appeals Court lawsuit that gave them exemption from state gambling regulations for gaming activities that take place on tribal lands. The decision was upheld by the United States Supreme Court, opening the way for Indian tribes to open casinos on their native lands.

New Jersey was the first state outside of Nevada to introduce sports betting. The state legislature had already passed the needed legislation to allow sports betting in NJ before they challenged the 1992 Professional and Amateur  Sports Protection Act (PASPA) -- the Congressional Act that prevented sportsbooks from functioning in the United States. Once the NJ appeal was successfully decided by SCOTUS the state’s casinos were ready to begin accepting sports wagers.
